      The United States Association of Museum Volunteers (USAMV) was incorporated in 1979 under the
      Not-for-Profit Corporation laws of Washington, D.C. The USAMV became an affiliated committee of
      the American Association of Museums in 1981. 
      In 1986, the USAMV changed its name to American Association for Museum Volunteers (AAMV).

     The American Association for Museum Volunteers (AAMV) is the only national association representing
     the over 1,000,000 volunteers in all categories of museums and cultural institutions.

    AAMV is affiliated nationally with the American Association of Museums (AAM) and internationally with
    the World Federation of Friends of Museums (WFFM).

                                                         Board Changes - May 2008  

We were delighted to introduce three new board members who were voted into office by the AAMV membership, May 2008:

Deirdre Araujo, Manager Visitor Services, Exploratorium: museum of science, art and human perception, San Francisco as Western Regional Director     
Mary Anne Schierman, Director of Volunteers & Interns, McLean County Museum of History , Bloomington, IL as Mid-West Regional Director                   Maria Christus, Volunteer Program Manager, Adler Planetarium, Chicago as Director-at-large  

Several serving board members have been elected to new positions:                          
  
Deb Fuller has been elected Secretary  and Tim Deegan director-at-large/markrting.  

Leaving the Board after serving with distinction for many years is Judy Ciampoli.  AAMV thanks her for her many years of service and we are grateful  that she will continue to serve the aamv as a member of our  Advisory Council.
Leaving the board, also, is Connie Pirtle.  We are pleased to announce that she is now our new Newsletter Editor.  We thank our previous newsletter  editor, Anita Cater, for her many years of service writing wonderful newsletters.
