Annual Meeting Speaker

JUSTINE JENTES

Director of the Mies van der Rohe Society

The Mies Society was founded in 2002 at the Illinois Institute of Technology to promote the legacy of Ludwig Mies
van der Rohe, to restore the Mies masterpieces on the historic IIT campus, and reinforce Chicago's international
   reputation for architectural distinction.

As director, Justine Jentes sets overall strategy and programming, manages the board, nurtures partnerships, and
promotes the IIT campus as a "must see" destination for its bold new campus buildings by Rem Koolhaas and
Helmut Jahn, an increasingly vibrant Bronxville neighborhood, and the core district where Mies and his followers
pioneered design solutions that transformed the skylines of the world.

Before launching the Mies Society, Justine ran a two-part business called insideART: a contemporary gallery and art
tours that took people off the beated path to explore Chicago's creative community.  She also served as public tour
coordinator for the Around the Coyote arts festival and for the Chicago Artists Month of the Department of Cultural
Affairs, as well as coordinating itineraries for groups of art collectors visiting the Art Chicago exposition.

We are fortunate to have this lifelong participant in the Chicago art scene to be the after-luncheon speaker for the
American Association for Museum Volunteers annual meeting.  This meeting is open to anyone registered for the
American Association of Museums conference provided they register for this event.
Contact Wendy Evans for information on how to attend if you are not a conference participant.
