Art, Wonder, and the Museum Visitor Experience

Rika Burnham is Associate Museum Educator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, lecturer at
Teachers College Columbia University, and visiting museum educator for the Summer Teacher 
Institute of Contemporary Art (TICA) and the Teaching Institute for Museum Educators (TIME) at 
the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  She was a guest scholar at the Getty Museum and 
Research Institute in 2002, and with Elliott Kai-Kee, is coauthor of The Art of Teaching in the Museum 
and Museum Education and the Project of Interpretation in the Twenty-first Century.

Elliott Kai-Kee is an Education Specialist at the J. Paul Getty Museum.  He has a Ph.D. in 
European history and taught history before becoming a museum educator.  He has held various 
positions in the Education Department at the Getty, in school and teacher programs, college and 
graduate intern programs, and currently supervises the gallery teacher staff in the department.  
He is working on a history of gallery teaching in American art museums.
